What is the difference between a groundsheet and a footprint?
A groundsheet is made of flame-retardant tarpaulin, offering excellent durability and fire safety. A MacFoot (footprint) is thinner and lighter but more durable than standard manufacturer footprints. For example, for a floor area of 82.67 x 44.11 in (2,100 x 1,400 mm), a groundsheet weighs 3.08 lbs (1.4 kg), while a footprint weighs 1.94 lbs (0.88 kg).
Are groundsheets and footprints waterproof?
Yes, MacOutdoor’s groundsheets and footprints are 100% waterproof.

Groundsheet and Footprint Installation
- Direction:
Both groundsheets and footprints can be used on either side. For footprints, to ensure proper use of fastening components (e.g., rubber strings), install with the MacOutdoor label facing up. Groundsheets can be used on either side, but we recommend placing the glossy side (with the label) facing down for easier cleaning.
- Position:
Ensure the groundsheet or footprint does not extend beyond the tent’s footprint area to prevent water pooling during rain.
TPU Installation
- Roll and secure the tent’s canopy inside the door.
- Tie the rod toggle and string to the tent’s hook-fastening webbing.
- Attach the rod toggle to the eyelet of the TPU window.
What components are included with a groundsheet?
For square or polygonal groundsheets, S-hooks and elastic cords are provided based on the number of corners. For circular or oval groundsheets, which are finished with sewn edges and no eyelets, S-hooks and elastic cords are not included.
Are MacOutdoor products compatible with other tents?
MacOutdoor products are custom-made for specific tents. We do not recommend using them with other tents. Please verify the tent model listed in the product name before purchasing. If compatibility is unclear, contact us for assistance.
